Three zones in one room, using only a rug and a shelf
How to separate sleeping, living and working in a studio without building a single wall.
A studio feels smaller when everything blends together. Giving each activity its own zone makes it feel like more than one room.
Rug = living room
A rug under the sofa and coffee table tells your eye “this is the living area”. Pick one big enough for the front legs of the sofa to sit on it.
Open shelf = wall
A see-through bookshelf placed sideways between the bed and the sofa divides the room without blocking light.
Lamp = office
A desk with its own lamp becomes a separate workspace, even if it’s only a meter from the sofa.
